Jump Rope For Heart and CCS:
Jump Rope For Heart (JRFH) is a national fundraising programs sponsored jointly by SHAPE America, formally the American Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) ,and the American Heart Association (AHA). JRFH and HFH are valuable programs that promote physical activity, heart healthy living, and community service to children.
At Collegium, our 150 Building K-3 students participate in JRFH every February. JRFH is big part of teaching our students about the importance of heart health. In addition, as you can see from the pictures above, our staff is very involved in the message of the event. Staff and teachers annually volunteer to "take a pie" in the face from a student who is in a class that raises the most money or who has the best spirit.
Another benefit JRFH has for our school is that by participating, we are eligible for gift certificates for physical education equipment. The more money we raise, the more equipment we can purchase. In addition, the enthusiasm of the entire Collegium community for this event was recognized on a National level in 2013, when we were one of 10 schools in the country to win a $2500 grant from the JRHFH program! JRHFH is a total team effort at CCS from the PE staff to the regular education staff, to the administration, maintenance, IT, secretaries, and students! It's one of the best days of the year! So, we appreciate all of your support!
